Caseload includes 2000 children from the age of 4-18 years. My caseloads include children that are looked after and accommodated both at home and away from home. I have a duty of care to provide health assessment for those children and provide if necessary care plans depending on their need. I also have children on the child protection register and have a huge amount of input working closely with social work and education to provide support for the families in often very difficult circumstances. My record-keeping as a senior member of staff has to be up to date and articulate. My caseload is large so it is important that I am able to delegate pieces of work to other staff members within the team ensuring make good use of the skill mix available.
I provide sexual health education to young people and attend a drop-in at school which provide pregnancy testing and Chlamydia testing.
I work often autonomously but I am aware of the importance of working collaboratively.
I am in a privileged position to offer advice and guidance to a wide variety of young people, children and families.
Part of my caseload includes a school for additional health needs. I am responsible for providing training for education staff on a whole host of health issues from epilepsy to diabetes. It is imperative that the training I provide is best practice and evidence-based.
I am also responsible for the budget which provides children with equipment such as gastronomy buttons and oxygen therapy. I have to be able to audit these supplies to ensure I am using the budget available to me adequately.
I provide tier 1 and tier 2 mental health support for children and young people. I frequently speak to children that have self-harmed or are experiencing suicidal ideation. By offering support and having the
ability to refer when appropriate and having the ability to know the young people is an advantage I work very closely with CAMHs and attend regular study days and conferences.
I also use evidence-based parenting programs to offer practical support to the parent with complex behavioural issues.
I have also been part of the immunisation programme for school role out flu immunisation and the new ACWY.
