Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust (NDHT) provides acute and community health and social care services to the communities of Northern Devon, which at a population of 165,000 and 1.5 hours travel time away from its nearest acute hospital neighbour – The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) – makes the North Devon District Hospital the most remote and one of the smallest mainland hospitals in England.
NDHT has a reputation of being a small, yet innovative Trust, with a culture of using its challenges of remoteness and workforce supply to develop transformational models of care.
Many of NDHT’s services have received national recognition for the quality of care and patient outcomes. Our teams of integrated health and social care community professionals across northern Devon work to rehabilitate patients, avoid admissions, and promote health, wellbeing and independence.
NDHT provides services at six sites across northern Devon; our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support people's independence, health and wellbeing. In any 24 hours our health and social care community teams visit around 450 patients in their own homes to help them rehabilitate after illness or injury. At any one time, they are overseeing around 8,850 people’s care.
North Devon is best known for its award-winning coastline, much of which is a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The golden sandy beaches stretch for miles and much of the coast is the UK’s top surfing spot. Combine this with dramatic coastlines, rugged moors and picturesque valleys, North Devon is a beauty spot waiting to be explored.
This is an exciting time to join the NDHT, from 1st April 2022, the NDHT and RD&E will become a single integrated organisation working across Exeter, Eastern, Mid and Northern Devon for the benefit of all communities served.
