Clinical Ward Manager- Digestive Diseases/Gastro Surgery Unit (GI)

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Ward Manager (Band 7) to oversee our Digestive Diseases/Gastro Surgery Unit located within our main hospital building (London, W1G 6BW), conveniently adjacent to the physiotherapy and hydrotherapy department.

 

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest independently owned non-profit hospital, with state-of-the-art facilities located on Harley Street. Job Description

To be responsible for the leadership and overall management of the department, providing the highest standards of care and services. This includes the assessment and evaluations of care in keeping with:

  • The Philosophies of the Clinic/Department
  • The NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Practice
  • The Clinic Policies and Protocols
  • The Clinic Nursing Strategy

 

Job Type: 

This is a full-time, permanent role working 37.5 hours per week, mainly Monday to Friday.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and offer advice/support to the Sisters/Charge Nurses in their role as clinical leaders to ensure high quality individualised patient care.
  • Establish the components of Clinical Governance within the department according to the clinic strategy.
  • Monitor legibility and accuracy of nursing records and be aware of the legal implication of these documents.
  • Ensure you and your staff attend relevant mandatory updates.
  • Promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of patients, relatives and colleagues.
  • Implement the Clinic Disciplinary and Grievance Procedure.
  • Act to rectify unsafe practise or unprofessional conduct.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC pin.
  • Must have substantial experience in an acute surgical setting, including experience within a Digestive Diseases/Gastro Surgery setting
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • Flexibility
  • Assertiveness with an ability to negotiate
