Intensive Care Nurse Opportunity


We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit, based at The London Clinic’s main hospital at the top of Harley Street in Central London, W1G 6BW (close to Baker Street & Regents Park tube stations).

Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 234 beds and 10 theatres, as well as an endoscopy & radiology unit.


Our Intensive Care Unit is a 13 bedded state-of-the-art facility with modern technology and equipment which provides you with the optimal working conditions to look after your patients. It is known for its single rooms with natural lightning and an extraordinary nursing staffing model. We cover most specialities, including, Colorectal, Gastrointestinal, Gynaecology, Hepatobiliary, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Spinal, Urology & Vascular surgery


Job Description

As a Staff Nurse, you will lead on the delivery of individualised patient care, acting as the named nurse, ensuring the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation is in line with evidence base practices.


Job Type:  This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Sunday).



8am - 8:30pm & 8pm - 8:30am (Long Days, Nights & Weekends - flexibility required).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of high standard patient centred care, including the appropriate assessment and evaluation of the nursing interventions, as well as administration of medicines and treatments.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, diagnostic and interventional procedures in liaison with the Nurse in Charge, Shadow
  • Support Nurse and Ward Coordinator.Collaborate with other healthcare professionals (doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and pharmacists) in the delivery of high standards of care.
  • Communicate effectively with dignity and respect to patients, relatives, staff and others.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive nursing records are maintained using appropriate IT Healthcare systems available.


Skills & Experience

  • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC pin.
  • Experience in an Acute High Dependency or Intensive Care setting.
  • Familiar with basic physiology and have a theoretical knowledge base for acute nursing, including mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapies and advance haemodynamic monitoring.
  • Demonstrate good standards of clinical practice in acute nursing, with good knowledge on routine medication administered in Intensive Care settings.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work within a Multi-disciplinary team.
