Are you a Non-EU Qualified Nurse currently living overseas, looking to begin your UK Nursing career?
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for talented Overseas Nurses to join us and start a career as a Band 5 Registered Nurse.
We have a range of vacancies in all divisions (Medicine, Surgery, Womens and Children’s, and Diagnostics and Specialties) across both of our busy sites. As a bonus, our Care of the Elderly Wards and Stroke & Neurology Units also attract a 7% salary enhancement.

What do we need from you?

We welcome applications from eligible candidates who have:

  • Successfully completed Part 1 of the NMC Test of Competence: CBT (in the last 2 years)
  • Already received or be in the process of applying for the NMC decision letter
  • Met the English Language Requirement for UKVI

This includes evidence of:

  • A pass in the IELTS examination within the last 2 years
  • OR a pre-registration nursing or midwifery qualification taught and examined in English
  • OR being a national of a majority English speaking country

(It is important to check that you meet one of these, as this differs slightly from the NMC’s criteria)

What can we offer you?

  • As a Grade A sponsor, the Trust can offer Tier 2 Sponsorship for eligible candidates, along with a maintenance package, if required, to assist your transition into the UK consisting of:A one way flight to the UK paid up to a cost of £500
A month’s free onsite Trust accommodation.
  • A full time, substantive contract, paid as a Band 3 Nurse in Training until the OSCE has been successfully completed.
  • Continued employment with the Trust will be dependent on gaining NMC registration within 8 months of arriving in the UK (as per UKVI regulations). Applicants will then be paid as a Band 5 Registered Nurse upon receipt of an NMC pin and will be expected to remain working as a Band 5 within the Trust for at least 12 months. Should you decide the leave the Trust before this, the Trustmay seek to reclaim the cost of your training programme. Failure to pass the OSCE exam within the given number of attempts or timescale would result in a withdrawal of sponsorship and curtailment of the Tier 2 visa.
  • Dedicated training sessions from our Professional Education team to prepare you for your objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). With a 92.7% OSCE pass rate, we are fully equipped to support you through this examination, giving advice and mentoring both on the wards and through our incredibly helpful network of overseas staff. This will also be supplemented withour in-depthPreceptorship programme following NMC registration.

In addition to the training programme we will also advance fund up to 3 OSCE attempts (dependent on Visa restrictions), allowing the costs to be reclaimed by the Trust and spread more easily over 12 monthly salary deductions.

The Trust can also offer the same repayment option for the fees associated with the visa application process (for the applicant only). This includes the Immigration Health Surcharge and the fees for a Tier 2 application and BRP, however unfortunately at present this can only be paid in your first salary with the Trust, not prior, therefore you will need sufficient funds yourself first.

Please note:

We will only accept applications that clearly state in the supporting information how they have met the above criteria. Failure to declare this on your application form will result in your application being rejected.

Proof of these requirements will need to be provided prior to being invited to interview. Interviews will only take place via Skype, with 2 members of our nursing staff.
